to Create a Truly Custom Space for YOU
A study done by the University College London revealed that the human brain experiences a reaction to attractive artwork that simulates the same serotonin boost as “falling in love.”
So yes, it is possible to fall in love with art. I certainly have! I thoroughly enjoy curating and commissioning art for our clients’ projects and have a growing list of local and international artists that we call upon regularly for that perfect, one-of-a-kind piece

THE 7 TYPES OF ART
Art takes on many forms, the primary being painting, sculpture, literature, architecture, cinema, music, and theater. Each of these have a place in the home, and I tend to work specifically with architecture, painting, and sculptures when customizing my clients’ spaces.

CURATION SECRETS
Obscurity is key, whether the artist is local, national, or international. I don’t add mass-produced or widely-available pieces to my clients’ homes.
When curating or commissioning any piece of art, we note the energy of the piece, matching the correct art with the function of the space. Case in point: A flamboyant and oversized wall canvas would do well in a family room or game room. A serene, undersized sculpture or figurine is appropriate for adult spaces that elicit solitude, such as a home office, bedroom, or in-home spa.

STYLING & PLACEMENT
Art can trick the mind and eye. For example, watercolor landscapes make a small space feel bigger, creating a window on a blank wall and taking the mind on a journey that is natural, ethereal, or dramatic in mere seconds.
Because of this, the color and texture of the art piece should flow with the design of the room, adding depth through layering techniques. I avoid the use of too many statement pieces, as they will only compete with each other and clutter the space.

Some of my clients are artists themselves or wish to display their child’s or grandchild’s talent in a professional format. Don’t discount the concept of a pencil drawing that is professionally framed. Art is anything that means something to you.
