Motorize Your Window Treatments

I’m getting more and more requests as homeowners learn and experience the benefits of motorized window treatments. At JLS Designs, we can motorize: shutters, blinds, roman and solar shades, woven woods, cellular products and draperies.

If your home is already built, most options can be operated with remote and a battery pack. Oversized windows will require hard wiring and can be a little more tricky, but nothing we can’t handle. If your home is under construction, motorization can be best handled at this point.

7 Reasons You’ll Love Motorized Window Treatments

If your home has many windows, and especially if these windows are large, manually opening and closing the shades and drapes can be a real hassle – an if up high, impossible. By installing motorized window treatments and tying them into a control system, you can raise and lower them at the touch of a button. Or better yet, automatically according to a schedule you define.

Motorized window treatments are great for the elderly or those with mobility restrictions. Instead of being forced to leave window coverings open or closed, they can now have more independence and decide for themselve when they want natural light and when they want privacy.

The cords used to operate traditional blinds and shades can be a hazard to children and pets. They seem like fun playthings, when in reality, they are choking and strangling hazards. Your motorized blinds are 100% cord and chain free.

When the shades move up and down throughout the day, your house looks as if someone is there … even when you might be hundreds of miles away. Most control systems allow the window treatment to operate in a random pattern rather than on a predictable schedule, giving your home a real lived-in appearance.

Energy Savings

The heat that passes through the window panes on a hot, sunny day, called solar gain, can throw your air conditioner into a tailspin. By covering them up, your AC runs less. You can install a sensor that signals the motorized window shades to close when the sun is at its brightest.

Protect Furniture, Floors and Art

The same sunshine that makes your AC unit run overtime can cause fading with continual exposure. Setting your window treatments to lower during the brightest part of the day can prolong the life of your furniture, flooring, rugs, and even your wall paint!

No matter how much you tug, it’s tough to get the shades into the exact position you want. By motorizing them, they can move in one fluid movement to the right spot. If you have a bank of windows, every shade can move in perfect alignment. As for draperies, you no longer need to use those unsightly rope pull cords.

Maximize Outdoor Spaces

How about motorized insect screens that make your porch an enjoyable outdoor space? Motorized shades and panels will maximize the comfort and usability of your outdoor space.
