Custom Window Treatment FAQs
Wondering if curtains stay when you sell a house is a question I am commonly asked! Knowing your options before you decide to leave them for the next owner is extremely important – especially since you have so many!
If you’ve ever wondered what the difference is between blinds and shutters, you’re not alone. This is one of the most common questions I get asked by my clients! While there are a number of different types of window coverings, blinds and shutters are some of the most common options (in addition to curtains, of course!).
Adding motorized window treatments to your home allows you to control your window treatments from a centralized location. With a push of a button, your automated blinds, shades and curtains will open and close themselves. In addition to this amazing convenience, motorized blinds and shades offer security, cost efficiency and can be designed to fit with the look and feel of your home.
Production time for custom window treatments can vary. The size, scope, and detail of the project are factors to take into consideration when planning out your designs.
After the initial fabric/design choices have been made, the measurements have been taken and the order has been placed, we typically communicate an average production time in the initial consultation.
Because each window treatment is created by hand and made to your exact specifications, most designers focus on window treatments about midway through their projects, once the trim is up in the home. That is the perfect time to begin the process as it allows for plenty of time to create, deliver and install the window treatments.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… Window treatments can sell a home.
If you are working with a seller to update a property before they put it on the market make sure to take a look at what they have hanging in and around their windows. Buyers often take the current state of the blinds, shutters or shades into consideration when buying a home as replacing the current treatments could add an additional cost later down the road. By recommending an update if one is needed you are ensuring a quicker selling process for your clients!
Window treatments are often the last thing designers choose to tackle. Not because they aren’t important or because they don’t make an impact on the room but because they are hard to get right.
The ratios, dimensions, measurements, type of covering and fabric can be overwhelming! If you’re looking to focus on the things you love about interior design you should think about hiring a window treatment professional to help!
If I didn’t answer your questions book a free consultation and I will be happy to guide you in the right direction!
